Pivotal Earth are building the most detailed set of annotated, species-level biodiversity data ever compiled – while providing measured, quality-controlled analytics to show evidence of any biodiversity gains on the ground.

The Challenge

Following Pivotal’s seed round investment from some of Europe’s leading VCs and advocates for a better planet, they needed to fill a senior operational void within the the business.

A COO hire that would have a complementary skill set to both Co-Founders.

DE&I is huge on Pivotal’s agenda and a key requirement to numi Search Ventures was to provide Senior Female C-Level Talent for their Shortlist.

The role was fully remote but, ideally they required someone in the UK or +/-2hrs within Europe.

Pivotal are here to build an institution that changes the way the world collaboratively. Working on one of the largest problems our planet is facing, and the only way they can do that is by bringing together a team who is passionate about restoring nature in new and exciting ways.

numi Search Ventures was assigned with finding a Female Operational Software leader, that has seen B2B Growth. Someone who has the ability to get their hands dirty and provide operational excellence and leadership as the business grows.

What We Did

Off the back of a detailed kickoff and number of subsequent meetings with Pivotal, we defined several Research segments and Ops Leadership Archetypes to go to market with.

Using the many tools at our disposal, we:-

  • Identified & Mapped 3000 B2B Software Business across Europe
  • Filtered this down against the requirements of Pivotal Earth, using measurements such as growth, scale, domain and customer base.
  • Filtered this further to 900 companies that could potentially have suitable candidates within them.
  • Looked across 3 different archetypes of Operational Leaders - Head of Ops - VP Operations - COO
  • Once this was done, we then correlated this information via referrals and LinkedIn to establish that there were 133 Female Operations Leaders to Outreach, Screen and Approach.

Once we had identified the right people, we set about building bespoke and personal campaigns to open doors and have conversations with them.

We created longlists and shortlists to provide the Pivotal with all the necessary insight for them to make educated decisions.

From there we managed the entire recruitment process and communication to ensure that we secured the right COO for Pivotal.
